The sign underneath the Apollo 7 television camera. It read:

"The Wally, Walt, and Donn Show"

In 1964, NASA made the decision to include equipment for live TV from Apollo spacecraft. Gordon Cooper tried to broadcast from Mercury-Atlas 9, but with poor results. On Apollo 7, American audiences first successfully visited with the astronauts in orbit.

Schirra, Eisele, and Cunningham put on such a good show that they received a special Emmy, television's highest award. They began their seven broadcasts with "Hello from the lovely Apollo Room, high atop everything."
