The sign accompanying Lovell's Gemini 12 watch. It reads
Gemini 12 OMEGA Chronometer
On loan from National Air and Space Museum
A good timekeeper is essential when you orbit the earth (or moon) and have no
other way to tell time; Captain Lovell wore this one on Gemini 12. This watch was designed to
work in extreme environments, such as in space. It keeps accurate time in
temperatures up to 200° F. It is made of stainless steel, glass,
brass, and jewels to keep it running properly. Have you ever seen a watch that
looks like this? How is it the same as, or different from, your watch?
