A view of the forward end of the LRV.

Visible is the high gain antenna, the television camera, the lunar communications relay unit (LCRC, mounted in front of the chassis), and the batteries (displayed here with their white covers down).

The covers were used to protect the batteries' radiators from lunar dust while the LRV was being operated. When the astronauts arrived at a station for science work, they opened the covers to allow the batteries to cool.
