A sign accompanying the Lunar Roving Vehicle

Lunar Rover Storage

The Lunar Rover Vehicle (LRV) was engineered to fold in such a way as to allow it to fit within the tight, pie-shaped confines of Quad 1 of the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) that transported it to the moon. After the LEM landed, the LRV unfolded itself from its stowed position, and deployed itself to the moon's surface in its operational configuration with minimum assistance from the astronauts.
