dsc38138.jpg

View of the forward end of the engine.

At back left is the liquid oxygen (LOX) inlet duct; at right is the liquid hydrogen (LH2) inlet duct. The grey sphere at left front is the start tank, which held pressurized hydrogen gas and was used to provide the initial spin on the turbopumps.

This photo was taken from the east mezzanine, which for a short time hosted a special exhibit and was thus open to visitors.
