APS Engine (Davidson Center) |
|
The USSRC displays a lunar module Ascent Propulsion System engine in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration. On a wheeled dolly (so it could conceivably be moved to just about anywhere), it was located right next to the DPS engine, near the lunar module. I believe that this engine is Smithsonian catalog #A19751345000 (click the picture on the NASM site to enlarge), and that its more customary white and silver paint job must have been stripped during a restoration effort. Not only does the floor and background in the NASM picture look like the "old" building at the USSRC, but the missing bolts and the orientation of the lettering on the propellant feed line covers is a perfect match.
Previously, this engine had been displayed in the "old" museum. |
