Alas, the stage moved less than a foot before they aborted. The stage was rocking and twisting too much. While the S-IC was still in the transporter originally designed for moving the stage (so the stage was securely fastened to its transporter), the ends of the S-II just sat in cradles designed to hold it up for display. After a short conference, they got chains and nylon straps to fasten the forward and aft ends in an effort to stabilize it. | ||||
