The S-IC rested in the Rocket Park on the transporter which had been designed to move Saturn V first stages around in the 1960s. The transporter would continue to serve this purpose, even after the stage would be moved indoors -- they just removed the wheels and related equipment and put the remaining frame on support columns in the Saturn V Center.

Here they're in the process of removing the wheels from the front part of the transporter. Note that the wheels of the transporter on the far side of the S-IC had already been removed.
