The S-IC rested in the Rocket Park on the transporter which had been designed
to move Saturn V first stages around in the 1960s. The transporter would
continue to serve this purpose, even after the stage would be moved indoors --
they just removed the wheels and related equipment and put the remaining frame
on support columns in the Saturn V Center.
Even though the rear dolly still had its wheels when we left the Rocket Center
a little after 5:00 on July 9, we found that the wheels had been removed by the
time we arrived the next morning.
