Overall walk-around of the F-1.

Picture 4 of 8.

Note the bracketry (between the LOX and fuel high-pressure ducts, leading from near the No. 1 fuel valve around the fuel inlet elbow and behind the interface panel, as well as running behind the fuel high-pressure duct to the gimbal outrigger attach point up toward the heat exchanger) which would be used to support the thermal insulation.

Also note the engine's serial number, "F-6049" on the side of the thrust chamber just forward of the turbine exhaust manifold, and that the nozzle extension has a different serial number, F-6045. F-1 engine F-6045 is on display at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

It looks like the Smithsonian pulled rank in order to ensure that they had a "complete" F-1 engine!
