SRB Casing

One of the more unusual exhibits at Stafford Air & Space is a Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) segment. Laying on its side, the visitor is invited to walk through it.

For comparison, a representation of the SRB's fuel "star" grain pattern was once displayed at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.

Additional information about the Shuttle's SRBs is available in the "Solid Rocket Boosters" chapter of the STS News Reference Manual. A picture of the SRB segments being stacked was on NASA's SRB page of the "Space Shuttle System" page.
