Beyond the parking lot lies the Mars/Lunar Landscape, a field of volcanic rocks and sand where astronauts and engineers conduct training exercises to prepare for working on the surfaces of the Moon and Mars. It consists of an open space (not visible here), with a hill beyond.

Among other things, NASA tested their "lunar chariot" on this test yard.
