Apollo Boilerplate

The museum displays an Apollo boilerplate in the parking lot.

When I visited in the summer of 2004, it was in one area of the parking lot (I didn't note its exact location in 2004, but as I prepare this page in 2012, I believe it was approximately as indicated in this Google Maps link). By the time I returned in the summer of 2005, it had been moved to another area in the parking lot, where it remains to this day (Google Maps link).

There's no information about this particular boilerplate on the Field Guide. After my 2004 visit, I emailed the museum in hopes of receiving additional information. I received a reply from the aircraft collections manager, who gave me a generic description of what a boilerplate was. However, he did say that they received it from Eglin AFB in 1998, so this information might be of some use to someone who wanted to perform additional research in this regard.
