Overall view of the forward end of the 1/4 F-1 engine. There are a number of items to note:

• The engine lacks an interface panel, a turbopump, and propellant high-pressure ducts.
• There are two ID plates on the exterior of the combustion chamber.
• This is a later engine, as indicated by the presence of tabs and studs used to mount the engine's thermal insulation on the surface of the thrust chamber.
