S-IC - Night Shots

The roads in the area are a bit tricky (even in the day time), but we eventually made our way there. We returned in the evening to get some night shots, but we came in from a different direction. The roads are even trickier in the dark, and first we must have taken a bad turn, completely missed it, and went way too far past it. Then we found ourselves in the situation where we could see it (with the Vertical Assembly Building lit up, it's hard to miss -- if you're facing the right direction :-), but couldn't find any roads which would get us going in the right direction. Eventually, though, we made it.

I was a bit disappointed. Even though I saw small flood lights around the S-IC during the day, they weren't turned on when we arrived. The Challenger and Columbia memorials were lit up. These lights, along with the street lights, had to do.

This camera has a separate wide angle lens, which doesn't integrate very well with my camera. Even though it's the lens recommended by the manufacturer, the camera's autofocus doesn't work with the wide angle lens attached. Getting it properly focused can be a challenge during the day time, much less at night when the image in the view finder is already murky at best. While I didn't even try to get any wide angle shots, I did combine two pictures into a single image of the entire stage.
