Freedom 7 Spacecraft/Earth Composite

Freedom 7 was displayed in a rotunda at the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland from December 1998 until mid-2012. In January 2012 it was announced that the spacecraft would be moving to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, where it arrived on September 2, 2012 and went on display ten days later.

The display area featured a back-lit Earth near the spacecraft. Of course, it's not possible to get a single photo where both the nearly-all-black spacecraft and backlit Earth are both properly exposed, so I've combined dsc32418.jpg with two other shots of the back-lit earth into a single image, creating a picture more visually representative of the scene.
