Gas Generator Combustor
The gas generator combustor. When mounted on an engine, the combustor would be thermally insulated by a sheet metal shell that bolted around the combustor body. Although one flange was somewhat deformed, it was in overall good shape, with one of the igniter wires still intact. In January 2013, NASA took a gas generator from an F-1 engine formerly located in a museum, mounted it a test stand, and test-fired it (YouTube video). Remember, this is just the gas generator, used to spin the turbopump's turbine and is not an actual rocket engine! See my page on the F-1 rocket engine gas generator.
