X-1 Replica

The Cosmosphere displays the replica of the Bell X-1, the first aircraft to break the sound barrier in powered flight, which was used in the movie The Right Stuff.

The Cold War Gallery in which it is located, like the rest of the Cosmosphere, is very compact, making it difficult to photograph the entire aircraft.

The original X-1 is located in the National Air & Space Museum.
