A high-pressure air storage sphere.

I believe that the high-pressure sphere is the 1.5 cubic foot, 3,000 psi sphere which supplies gas for the jet nozzles.

Note the bundle of tubing behind this sphere; the larger-diameter tube which goes away from the back of the sphere and follows the former ring out of frame at left appears to go to the pressure regulator.
