The LM ASCENT STAGE, displayed to your left, is an actual test unit of the inner crew pressure module of an earlier design of the LM. The primary difference between this unit and the ones that flew to the Moon is the front hatch door. The round front entry hatch of this unit was later modified to a square hatch for the flight LMs that went to the Moon. The square hatch better accommodated a fully suited lunar astronaut with a backpack trying to transfer in or out of the LM.
