The main floor has a stained-glass window honoring the American astronauts who
died in their spacecraft. The top is in Latin, reading "Ad Astra per Aspera,"
while the bottom has the English translation, "To the stars through
difficulty."
Artifacts from the three missions are encased in the window. On the lower left
is a white tile from
Columbia. On the lower right is a black tile from Challenger.
Just left of center-bottom, under the "To the" in "To the stars through
difficulty" (mostly obscured by the railing) is an electrical component from Pad 34, representing
Apollo 1.
Additional information about the window can be found on Space.com.
