The base of the propeller blades resting in the propeller's center hub. A museum volunteer saw me photographing the propeller and warned me that when the plane was being restored, a complete propeller could not be located and so the propeller was a mix of parts. I had noticed that the propeller seemed to use two different types of gears for adjusting the blades' pitch. Picture 4 of 6. This is the base of propeller blade #3; note the coarse teeth on the pitch adjustment gear. | ||||
