The Mustang's propeller had been removed and was on a pallet on the floor. The spinner had apparently been removed earlier, and was in a different part of the hangar.

A museum volunteer saw me photographing the propeller and warned me that when the plane was being restored, a complete propeller could not be located and so the propeller was a mix of parts. I had noticed that the propeller seemed to use two different types of gears for adjusting the blades' pitch.
