C-47 |
The museum had a C-47 (tail number 3-49336), painted in post-war colors. Originally constructed as a C-47 during World War II, it was apparently converted to a VC-47D, a VIP transport, circa 1956. The plane is in pretty rough shape. The passenger door was open; based on its condition, it almost looked like it was always open (although the door appears to have been closed when the aerial view was taken). I had hoped to climb into the aircraft, but the hinges were in very poor condition and I was afraid that my not-insubstantial weight might damage the door farther, so I limited my observations to the plane's exterior. |
