In the cramped quarters of the ball turret, the ball turret gunner could not directly cock the gun; instead, the gunner pulled this handle, the cable of which attached to the machine gun, in order to charge (cock) the weapon. Also notice the right foot rest (the half-moon above the forward charging handle pulley, just right of the round forward window). The oxygen cylinder pressure gauge and oxygen flow indicator (blinker) are at bottom center. | ||||
