I noticed this, hanging in one corner of the pavilion, while I was on the catwalk photographing some other planes. I didn't see any identifying signs, and at first thought it was a V-1. However, upon reviewing the picture, I found that it was a KD2G-2 "Firefly", developed in the early 1950s as a remotely controlled target aircraft for air-to-air and anti-aircraft gunnery training. Visually, it resembles a V-1 in that it's torpedo-shaped and has wings and a pulse jet engine, but compared to a V-1 the KD2G-2's engine lies closer to the fuselage and it has twin vertical stabilizers. The fuselage is marked with "KD2G-2/1268" under the engine; perhaps "1268" is its serial number? | ||||
