I found it odd that there was a 1950s-era, ungrounded electrical outlet on the platform.

The mechanical, odometer-style counter at left was manufactured by the "Haydon Mfg. Co., Inc." of "Torrington, Conn., U.S.A." and notes 283.2 "hours and tenths" of operation. The black and red circular fixture to the left of the counter is a fuse.
