Lovell's Apollo 13 LEVA

For a time, the Museum of Science and Industry displayed Jim Lovell's Apollo 13 Lunar Extravehicular Visor Assembly, or LEVA. The visor assembly fit over the standard pressure helmet assembly and was used to protect the astronaut from the sun's otherwise-unfiltered rays.

Lovell recalled a number of items loaned to the Museum, including this LEVA, and transferred them to Adler Planetarium when it received Gemini 12. It is now on display at Adler.
