Return to Recovered F-1 Engine Conservation

F-1 Conservation Observation Gallery

In March 2013, Bezos Expeditions recovered parts from a number of F-1 rocket engines which launched several of the Apollo missions from the bottom of the Atlantic. The parts were sent to the Cosmosphere's SpaceWorks division for conservation.

For a time, the Cosmosphere had a tour where visitors could view some of this conservation work. While I was unable to visit the museum while these tours were being run, I was able to peek inside the visitor gallery in December 2013 (although most of the engine parts were submerged in their restorative baths by this time).
